THE 2ND QUARTER OF THE STUDENTS’ TOWN HALL MEETING HOLDS IN UYO

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Comrade Aquilla Otobong Akpan today the 30th of August 2017, gathered all the students representatives and their leaders across various tertiary Institutions in Akwa Ibom State to a special interactive meeting which holds at the Governor’s Office Annex Barracks road, Uyo.

The meeting was to necessitate the role of students as a key player in nation building.

In her opening remark, Comrade Aquilla have this to say: “Today, we are launching the student’s Mandate which is a socio-political organization for all student leaders. This will assist in the cross fertilization of social and political issues as it affect the Student of Akwa Ibom State”.

“Our Dear Governor has taken steps to provide an enabling environment for education tourism in our State by consolidating on the Free and compulsory education program, likewise paying of Students’ WAEC fees at Secondary school level”.

“His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel has breathed a new life into the educational sector of the state”

“Currently, all tertiary institution in the state are enjoying a face lift with massive construction of internal roads networks as well as scholarships to students across borders,while also consolidating on the free and compulsory education program by paying of student’s WAEC fees at secondary school level”

“The Governor has also launched the first ever Akwa Ibom state student’s social services volunteer scheme”

“This meeting therefore challenges all past and present student leaders to positively contribute to peace within the student community”

“Today’s town hall meeting is a session that will allow student leaders to render feedback on the various initiatives of the government for the student populace ”

Also speaking during the town hall meeting were:

Engr Ufot Ebong, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due Processes

Professor Mathew Ekpo, Provost College of Education, Afaha Nsit.

Pastor Paul Alexander Udofia, Commissioner for Education.

Mr Charles Udoh, Commissioner for Information and Strategy.

Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring and,

Comrade Ini Ememobong Akpabio,the State Publicity Secretary of PDP.

In reacting to the issues raised by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel ably represented by the Secretary to the Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren charged all the students to be a good and worthy ambassadors to the state while the government is doing everything possible to improve on the standard of Education in the State. The Governor maintained that the students should abstain themselves from all vices that may truncate their success in the nearest future. Mr Udom Emmanuel thank the students for their continual support and corporation and promise to always engaged the students in the nation building.
