WE ARE COMMITTED TO GOV. EMMANUEL’S SUCCESSION PLAN -MKPÓ AMAA CHANGE INITIATIVE

The leadership of Mkpó Amaa Change Initiative, a Pan-Akwa Ibom socio-political group, has said it remains committed to the succession plan of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

At a media interaction held in Uyo, Saturday, the group said it would utilise its structures across the state to ensure that the peace currently being enjoyed under Governor Emmanuel’s administration, is sustained beyond 2023.

International Coordinator of Mkpó Amaa Change Initiative, Mr Ekpeno Gold, who spoke on behalf of the group, announced the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, as its Patron, noting that the Initiative would ensure the state Chief Executive lands well in 2023.

“We have enjoyed so much peace under Governor Udom Emmanuel and as members of Mkpó Amaa Change Initiative, we are concerned with supporting a successor who will sustain the peace. We need peace for businesses and development to thrive. So we are fully in support of the Governor’s succession plan and Completion Agenda”, he said.

To further broaden its structure, Mr. Gold revealed that the group would resume inauguration of Local Government Chapters on Monday, December 13, 2021, with visits to Itu, Ibiono Ibom and Obot Akara.

Apart from cementing its structures in the state, Gold who is also the Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Reorientation said the group would also use the opportunity to campaign against various forms of electoral violence.

“We are believing that we will have very peaceful electoral processes in 2023. So to achieve that, we’ll use this opportunity to caution people again votes buying, thuggery, cultism, ballot snatching etc. We have the acceptance, so I’m sure people will listen to us”, he said.

While acknowledging the support the group has so far enjoyed in the state, Gold said the Initiative would to groom young leaders who he noted had fresh energy and ideas.

“We are targeting new voters. We want to see how we can engage and bring them into the system, because they have fresh ideas and energy.

“We want to give them opportunities. We want to see how we can raise good leaders who will mount the affairs of this state and Nigeria at large”, he added
