Eket Residents to Breathe Fresh Air as Commissioner Commends Environmental Sanitation Exercise

Residents of some flood prone areas and streets where gutters were filled up with dirt will now breath fresh air following distillation and evacuation of dirts from gutters in those areas by the local council during today’s environmental sanitation exercise.

It was gathered that the Executive Chairman Hon. Deacon Nsikan John personally supervised and participated in the exercise in line with his promise of bringing back the beauty and cleanliness of Eket.

A statament from the Media Assistant to the Council boss, Comrade Daniel Edon indicated that the Chairman supervised and participated in the sanitation exercise along Grace Bill road, Udo Umo Street, Park and Market road among other areas.

According to Edon, the immediate past Chairman of Eket Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon. Frank Archibong accompanied the council chairman to witness and equally participated in this month’s Environmental Sanitation Exercise in Eket.

The Commissioner commended the Council Chairman for the massive work, especially on evacuation of waste from drainages, which he said has contributed to the menace of flood in Eket.

The commissioner also used the medium to urge residents of Eket to also see the need to assist the government in keeping their environment clean at all times.

While appreciating the Commissioner’s presence at the exercise, honourable Nsikan John promised that his administration will leave no stone unturned in the quest to keep Eket clean.
