ATIKU ABUBAKAR MOURNS FORMER MEDIA AIDE, IFEANYI IZEZE

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mr. Ifeanyi Izeze, a pioneer member of his media team and former Office Manager.

In a condolence message, Atiku described the late Izeze as a prominent and dedicated member of his media team who played a crucial role during a critical stage of his political journey.

According to the former vice president, Izeze joined his media team in 2006 from the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) located in Ikot Abasi, where he had been working prior to his engagement.

Atiku noted that Izeze brought extensive experience in journalism, the Niger Delta region, and Nigeria’s oil and gas sector to the team, which greatly enriched the work of the media unit at the time.

The late Izeze was trained as a geologist at the University of Port Harcourt, where he studied up to the postgraduate level. Despite his academic background in geology, he built a distinguished career in journalism, reporting extensively on the oil and gas industry.

During his career in the media, Izeze worked with several publications including the defunct Sunray, Anchor, and NewAge newspapers before later joining ALSCON.

Atiku recalled that as the pioneer Office Manager of his media team, Izeze was a senior and influential member who helped shape the campaign policies of his presidential campaigns in the Niger Delta, particularly in matters relating to the oil and gas sector.

The former vice president prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest and also asked that God give strength and comfort to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.

Ifeanyi Izeze is survived by his children, grandchildren, and his elder brother, Pastor Emeka Izeze, a respected journalist associated with The Guardian.
