Few hours after the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State Deacon Udom Emmanuel was given Certificate of Return, members of Ini Peoples Forum led the the Special Assistant to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Inter-party Affairs Hon (Dr) Lawrence Udoide took to the street of the council headquarters Odoro Ikpe to celebrate the victory of the Deacon governor.
According to the International President of the sociopolitical organization Hon (Dr) Lawrence Udoide, the victory match was informed by the need to, in solidarity with other well meaning indegenes and organization in Akwa Ibom State, celebrate the overwhelming and well deserved victory of the governor at the March 9, governorship election in the state and to show appreciation to the governor for not being sentimental in his industrialization strides in the state.
He explained that Ini people has never had it better (in terms of road infrastructure, industries, and political inclusiveness) since the return of democracy. He reminisced with regret, the period of neglect mated on them by a governor who was supposed to be their own having held from the same senatorial district with them.
‘We had a governor who held from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and who served for 8years but did not remember Ini people even when the state was experiencing a boom. Today, with the meager money available to him, Udom Emmanuel has remembered Ini people. Today, we can boast of Rice Mill, good roads and every other dividence of democracy experienced everywhere in the state.’
The Governor’s Aide used the opportunity to thanked the people of Ini Local Government Area for their the unflinching support they accorded the second term bid of the governor and for going out en mass to vote for the governor during the March 9, governorship election in the state.
‘Today, we did not come for campaign. Election has been won already. We, the entire members of Ini Peoples Forum came to say thank you for your support during the general election in the state’.
Speaking during the occasion the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the organization Mr Akaninyene Ebong said that Ini people are happy the governor was returned for a second term to continue his good works in Akwa Ibom State and Ini Local Government Area in particular.
He was particularly greatful to the governor for the numerous people oriented projects he has cited in the local government area expressing optimism that his return will mean more development to Ini people in particular and Akwa Ibom people in general.
There were goodwill messages from Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC), Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) and Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).
