…advocates for love, unity, togetherness amongst Ibibio people
The Immediate Past Acting Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Otuekong Hon. Ukai Udeme Emmanuel has stated that love, unity and togetherness amongst Akwa Ibom people most especially the Ibibio extraction is the bed rock of development in Akwa Ibom State.
The Former Uyo Local Government Council helmsman made this divulge during the 2021 Cultural Day Celebration of Ibibio Students’ Union of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic held at the institutions play ground in Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.
Hon. Ukai Udeme Emmanuel stated that there’s need for Ibibio people to build a more unified entity that will propel development of the nation, integrate and encourage individuals to share ideas and values both socially, economically, spiritually, culturally and politically most especially among the students fold.
He decried the lack of unity amongst the Ibibio people in Akwa Ibom State which he described as a political lacuna hindering the peace, security and progress of the state impeding social cohesion towards enhancing nation building in the ecosystem.
He congratulated the leadership of Ibibio Students’ Union, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua on their proactive strides to promote, defend and secure the referred cultural heritage, norms and values of the prestigious Ibibio extraction in Akwa Ibom State.
He however enjoined the students while fully participating on the social activities of the institution to also be focused and pay premium attention to their academics as a catalyst needed for personal survival and to sustain and retain the growth of the nation in all ramifications.
