13th June, 2019Earlier today, the leadership of Onna Community Development Council (OCDC) ably led by the Paramount Ruler of Onna, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Dr. Timothy Raymond Inyang visited Community Comprehensive Secondary for an academic orientation of the students.The visit was necessitate by the fact that students in the present day school has lost focus in their right character and the choice of their curriculum while climbing the academic ladder, hence this informed the eminent sons and daughter from Onna who has distinguish themselves in their chosen field to move from school to school talking to students in a bid to put students in right track and become not only useful to themselves but also to the society.Welcoming the team, the principal of the school, Mr Eteyen Udoeyen appreciated the team for finding time to visit the school while also listed a few things that need urgent attention in the school. The Supervisor of Education, Hon Jephthah Sambo on behalf of the chairman thanked the team and also extolled Governor Udom Emmanuel who place high value for education in Akwa Ibom State through the free and compulsory education policy.Speaking to the student, a Professor of Political Science and a Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal, Professor Bishop Umoette spoke on the need for the students to work on good etiquette amongst others. According to him, the customary code of polite behaviour in society or among members of a particular profession is what every student needs to be able to soar higher in life.”You may be intelligent and pass your exams with good result but without good behaviours, you may not go far in life” – Prof UmoetteDr Joshua Ndoho who spoke on Juvenile delinquency, Peer Pressure and Cultism took out time to enlightened the students on the negative impact of some of this vices. According to him, “you do not need your muscles or your shoulder to make it in life, but you need your brain”. Ndoho warned the students against pressure groups and Cultism, reminded them that the decision and the journey to make it in life begins today. Choose the right group to belong and God will help you to succeed. He concluded.Also speaking, the only female in the team, Lady Makeda Ekpo speaks on the Essentials of Education. She charged them to take their studies seriously for nothing pays more than education. With education, you can go places and it is the best asset anyone can be proud he or she has.Joining the league of speakers, Dr Kingsley Ekwere of the Faculty of Law and Professor Ukana Akpabio also spoke on a number of issues to include subject specialties and carries counselling which of course is one of those things that the school is lacking.Professor Akpabio emphasized on the need for every student to always consult the school counselor in order to be right about the choice of their subjects and areas of specialties while also promising to make available those things the school required.The wife of the Paramount Ruler of Onna, Her Majesty, Obonganwan Uwaowo Raymond Inyang thanked the team for initiating such a lofty initiative and urged the students to take advantage of the orientation they have so far received.Among those who attended the program includes:
