BILL SEEKING CULTURAL PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION PASSES FIRST READING

A bill seeking for the preservation , protection and restoration of historical properties and cultural heritage sites in Akwa Ibom State, has passed first reading.

The bill sponsored by the Member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Hon. (Barr.) Otobong Bob, and others at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, was read on Thursday during planery.

Briefing the press short after plenary, the lawmaker said the bill, when passed into law, will preserve, protect and restore historical properties and cultural heritage sites in the state.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, however referred the bill to the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges for further legislative actions, while plenary was adjourned to Thursday, 28 May, 2020.
