Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the payment of 2016 gratuity to retired civil servants in her employ.
In a letter signed by the Director, Inspectorate, Office of the Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ifiok Ibanga indicates that the payment is for retirees who were scheduled for the month of March, 2016.
According to Mr. Ibanga, a total of one hundred and ninety four retired civil servants have been captured in the first phase of the gratuity payment.
The Head of Inspectorate has therefore advised all retired civil servants who were scheduled for the month of March, 2016 to cross-check their names from the Punch, business day, Pioneer and other local tabloids of Monday, 27th May, 2019 or visit the Treasury Headquarters Uyo, for confirmation.
He appealed to retirees who are yet to receive their gratuities to remain calm as State Government was working hard to ensure that all entitlements to both serving and retired civil servants are paid.
Mr. Ibanga lauded the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for placing premium on the welfare of workers and appealed to civil servants to reciprocate State Government’s kind gesture by showing commitment to their assigned duties.
