The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Sir Charles Udoh, has said the huge investment made by Akwa Ibom State government in its education sector was in recognition of the vital role of education in the development of the Akwa Ibom child.
The Commissioner made this explanation yesterday, while speaking on a live AKBC Radio programme, ‘Akwa Ibom Calling.’
Charles Udoh averred that, in its commitment to ensure that, Akwa Ibom child is effectively equipped to compete favourably with his counterparts any where in the world, the State Government geared its resources into the education sector to mould and equip the child for the challenges ahead.
To this end, Governor Udom Emmanuel had on assumption of office started renovating and constructing classroom blocks, the Information Boss said, disclosing that, over 700 classroom blocks were built in the process, even as strategic interventions were deployed in tertiary educational institutions as well.
Udoh added that, to boost its educational needs, the State Government brought in modular classrooms in primary schools at Ifa Atai along Airport Road; and Mbak Etoi, Uyo, which he said are on test run, and will be subsequently replicated in other parts of the State.
Speaking on infrastructure, the Commissioner said that government was consciously constructing economically viable roads that will ramp up the economy of the State and ease the transportation need of farmers and fishermen, as well as enable citizens access the industries and secondary health care facilities provided by the State Government.
The Information boss, who expressed delight that the culture of enterprise, creativity, and hard work was taking centre stage in the state, advised Akwa Ibom people to embrace the Dakkada philosophy and imbibe a proper social re-orientation by adopting a positive attitude to life.
